Emergency Sporting Equipment Grant Program ready to help Victorian clubs in need

Sport and Recreation Victoria has opened applications for the Emergency Sporting Equipment Grant Program until May 31, 2024.

The program is a valuable initiative that assists grassroots sport and active recreation clubs and organisations when the going gets tough, as a way to recoup essential sporting and first aid equipment that can be lost or destroyed as a consequence of fire, flood, significant storms, theft or criminal damage.

The program, which has been running since November 1, 2023, offers grants of up to $1,000 that go towards replacement or repair costs associated with equipment that belongs to the applicant organisation. All incidents that have occurred from 1 June 2023 to 31 May 2024 will be covered via these grants.

Before submitting an application, the following criteria must be obtained:

• a police report for all incidents involving theft or criminal damage
• quote/s which correspond to the equipment requested for funding
• if already purchased – proof of payment including receipts, bank statements and invoices
• evidence of the incident and the equipment that has been lost or destroyed.
